Paulo Almeida and Marta Marques conveyed pulsing energy in their autumn-winter 2017 collection – just like Malick Sidibé, the legendary Malian photographer, did in his photography of ordinary people and families. Marques Almeida is known for its sense of community, its model-friends and rare, friendly attitude in the industry. The same feeling of togetherness was felt in Malick’s black & white photos. No wonder why the designers’ moodboard was filled with his memorable shots, which, by the way, frequently presented men and women dressed in stripes and bold patterns. Sounds just like Marques Almeida’s dresses and coats for the autumn season, which were all about joyous geomentry. Over-sized blazers, slouchy pants, voluminous skirts: a wardrobe of London’s edgiest, artiest and most charming girl.
