I rarely post advertisement campaigns on my blog, as they usually pop out on every other site – but for this Gucci ad, I will make an exception. Alessandro Michele’s eccentric vision for this Italian luxury house just keeps getting better. And this advertisement, unexpectedly photographed in my beloved Berlin, makes a statement: romance is alive. However Germany is present in this visual portfolio of the spring-summer 2016 collection in more ways than just the tourist must-sees – according to the house’s press note, the campaign took inspiration from the country’s 80s pop culture – untamed love and a fresh breath of freedom is definitely on the moodboard of the designer. Shot by Michele’s favourite photographer, Glen Luchford, the campaign shows the Gucci girls and Gucci boys wearing flares, lurex shirts and embroidered dresses in some cheesy, yet moody spots – a skateboarding model is holding a peacock in the metro; a secret party on a rooftop, with a typical, Berliner view of the city’s brutalist landscape; slightly waisted trio looking unconscious in a nightclub WC. The effect? See the photographs below.
