70’s Bohemia. Creatures of The Wind AW15

_MON0020

One of our main influences was looking at the 20s through a 70s lens,” said one of the designers at Creatures of The Wind, Shane Gabier. The palette was rich with opulent Art Deco hues – especially the gold olive, which Gabier said “has reappeared in different decades, different places and in different subcultures.” The all-American collection (the stoles had free-life stars on them) had lots of metaphors having something to do with the country’s history – pilgrims, farmers, New York flea markets and even, the Steve Jobs turtlenecks. And all of that, mixed in a cool bohemia like mash-up. I love the use of fur and prints – the frivole skirt with monochrome checks is amazing, isn’t it? Just like the shoes, which really get hot, keeping in the mind that the brand starts its strong expansion.

The Elder Statesman’s Melrose

elder-statesman-melrose-store-3

Around a month ago, I wrote about The Elder Statesman as a new obsession. Well, it’s still strongly on my mind. Greg Chait’s playful luxury knitwear label has just landed on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, having neighbors like Isabel Marant. In a hype bungalow,  red neon invites you to visit the home- “I left it with a living, breathing vibe, one that would represent the creative freedom instilled in the goods we make.” The 1,600-square-foot structure is housed next to an outdoor courtyard of equal size, while the interior, created in collaboration with the influential design firm Commune, features skylights and succulents as well as more personal details like Chait’s grandmother’s artwork and a carefully chosen assortment of found objects. “It’s really all about less details,” Chait says, “but ones that are strong and honest.” The stores expresses the attitude of the clothes so well, that no more words are needed. elder-statesman.com

Effortless. Creatures of Comfort SS15

Slide2-kopia

Yiiiha! Cactis, cowgirls, converse- the all-American Cretures of Comfort SS15 collection was totally cool. With slouch jumpsuits, cozy knits, lovely dresses and perfect Summer robes, this season is one of the best to date, if talking of CoC. Their main meaning is to create stylish, COMFORTABLE clothes with a slightly quircky vibe. With those cowboy hats and cacti motifs, I am simply in love. This effortless-ness is gorgeous. Keep it up, Creatures of Comfort!

Miss America. Rag & Bone Resort’15

Slide2

The new collection by Rag & Bone for Resort’15 was all about fine, labour clothing. Texture was key, in other words, as was the emphasis on looks that could transition from season to season. The signature piece may have been the waistband-free A-line shorts, done in leather or lightweight suiting fabric, which had the chillaxed air of skate shorts but didn’t ape that look exactly. The sweatshirts were worn slouchy on white cotton shirts, while over-sized leopard printed dresses were style with super cool white sneakers and socks. “Do you‘resort’?” Wainwright and partner David Neville are keenly attuned to their customer’s lifestyle, and they make it their business not to offer her fantasies but to elevate her reality.

Dream Big, Dream American

Chanel Pre-Fall’14

Met Gala’s mood? James Charles. Hottest new fashion labels? New York. Sexiest models? Texas. Best jeans? America. So no wonder why, the Pre-Fall’14 collection was all about cowgirls and cowboys- the fashion influence is totally American. Even the fact that we have Jeremy Scott at Moschino. So, there is surely something about that… having in mind, that the latest Pre-Fall by Chanel was inspired and presented in Dallas, lets see who feels fashion slightly more American than others…
