Modern Sister-hood. Area AW15

aw15

I am so proud. It’s the first time a Polish designer is really in the spotlight in New York. It’s Piotrek Panzczyk and his Parsons MA partner, Beckett Fogg, which nurture their imaginary baby since 2013 – Area. And their AW15 collection which hit the web proves, that these two are up to something big. They have a specific way of synthesising their textiles and bringing their ideas to another dimension – abstract ideas of sister-hood which is visible on their mood-board; wool and lame mixed with some ultra modern resins and materials. The polished patent flares caught my eye, just like the sleek tops which make me think of reptile’s moist skin. Everything looks sharp and sculptural. Keep an eye for this couple… and visit this fresh area.

The Fusion of Stella Jean

DSC01052

Stella Jean fuses ethnical influences with daily silhouettes like no other. She keeps the right balance between wearable kitsch and oriental hand-made craftsmenship – warm wool chunky knits embroidered with Hindu jewels; beige A-shaped skirt with hand-painted illustrations; kimono wool cut and made in Tibet; silk pajamas with cozy prints of Taj Mahal. For AW15 Stella, together with Ethical Fashion Group, debuted bags – made in ethical way in India from papier mache. Although this might sound a bit crazy, but the bags are really good in it’s design and durability. If talking of the jewellery, it exudes with tropical heat,

In Milan, Stella Jean is strongly valued not only by the store buyers, but also by women which really wear her absolutely fantastic designs for casual occasions. Re-seeing the clothes after the Milan Fashion Week was a real pleasure of mine! Here are more photos taken by me.

Aspesi Store in Milan

DSC01060

Aspesi store in Milan is one of these spectacular places, that you want to visit as often as it’s possible. The ground-breaking contrast of marble columns and plastic box tables makes the store not only attractive, but also an experience. Although the clothes by Aspesi always seemed to be a bit boring for, the interior makes you forget about the “every wardrobe’s basics” – ethnic colours, bold cushions exuding with gypsy bohemia, crocodiles jutting out from the walls, grandiose metal panels and gorgeous hangers – all of this make me drool and think, that there are no more rules in designing a store or any other concept. Fantasy and creativity is the most important, and Aspesi architects approve.

The Eye

11051760_924277977624006_7303060923564189118_o

Malwina Konopacka is a young, Polish artist which paints on porcelain and paper, creating a slightly nostalgic 60’s vibe around her works. Her recent cycle called “OKO” (The Eye) is all about her beautifully designed and printed vases, which truly make me think of Mondrian in a way. Spontaneously, the first vase was contrived when she was studying arts and design; then, her works were exhibited in Tokyo in order to present the world the design originating from Poland. The eye motif appeared since the beginning – as she states, painting on porcelain is a very relaxing thing to do. I already see one of her works in my house… Photos by Aga Bilska for USTA.

More on malwinakonopacka.com and at her exhibition „Oko by Malwina Konopacka”. Pies czy Suka in Warsaw, 13th of March till the 15th of April.
