The Joy of Sex. Christopher Kane AW18

When everyone’s sensitive towards the topic, Christopher Kane says it out loud: let’s talk about sex. The autumn-winter 2018 collection, similarly to the last season’s domestic kinkiness theme, enters the fields of sensuality like no other. The Joy of Sex, the 1972 illustrated guide of sexual positions and techniques by Alex Comfort, was the starting point for Kane. Some of the most expressive illustrations coming from the original version of the book appeared on the dresses, while mottos – ‘More Joy’, for instance – appeared on black knits and sweatshirts. The collection holds even more of ‘those’ moments, just slightly more subtly. Black leather was used for the coats and mini-skirts with lace inserts. Paneled, zippered dresses let for displaying or concealing different parts of the body – can be worn during the day and the night, how practical! Of course, Kane has in offer some less daring pieces, like chic suites or embellished midi-skirts. Still, the ‘provocative’ pieces are the strongest points of Christopher’s eroticism-in-fashion conversation.

Body Goals 101

Aren’t we all on the hunt for the perfect body? Or, rather, a body that we love? Because there’s not really a perfect kind of body for anyone. We’re born into what we have, and so we need to learn how to make that work for us. And that’s all there is to it. But that can be much harder to work on than it sounds. So, you have to be able to work with some key ideas in order to make that happen. Because as much as you might want to look a certain way, you’re going to find that if you can feel a certain way about your body, then what it looks like won’t overly matter. So, let’s take a look at exactly how you’re going to do that.

Know Your Shape

First of all, you’re going to want to figure out exactly what your body shape is. Because when you know what shape you are, you’re going to be able to work out what’s possible. So work out your body shape using something like this. From here, you can then get it into your head what kind of body you’re working for. Because if you’ve got curves in all the right places, why wish to be long and thin? At the same time, if you’re naturally tall and slim, those Beyonce curves won’t be yours. But by accepting this, you’re going to be taking the first step towards your body goals.

Get Fit

From here, you’re then going to want to work on your fitness levels. Regardless of your shape, you still need to be active and take care of yourself. This is always the best way to make sure that you’re looking after your body’s best interests. By committing to some kind of exercise, no matter what it is, your body will feel strong, and start to look its best.

Nourish Your Body

But at the same time, you’re also going to need to think about what you put into your body. Because if you’re not nourishing from within, you’re not going to feel your best at all times. Whether you need to detox, or just make a few tweaks, you should find that you will feel so much better in yourself when you start to think about feeding yourself for nourishment, and not always indulgence.

Improve Away

Up next is the idea of improvement. Because sometimes, no matter how often you workout or how well you feed your body, you won’t always be able to get the results you want. So whether you need to look into breast implant sizes or even skin removal, so it. If things are really bothering you and you physically can’t change them yourself, these improvements may be in your best interest.

Be Realistic

Above all else, you’re going to want to start being much more realistic with yourself about your body. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others, but that’s never a good idea. More often than not, it’s not productive, meaning that you only end up feeling worse about yourself. So it’s time to be realistic about your body and making it the best it can be.

Body. Comme Des Garçons AW17

First thoughts after seeing Rei Kawakubo‘s Comme Des Garçons collection for autumn-winter 2017 (written chronologically). Post-apocalyptic vision of Nicki Minaj’s / Kim Kardashian’ bodies. A Kawakubo human changes into an over-sized mushroom. Recycling is not only ecological; it’s artistic.

Rei’s collection is the new radical. Anti-fashion. Intepret it the way you want. But don’t think of it in terms of ‘clothes’, because these garments can’t be classified that way.

Sculptures. Yang Li AW15

Yang Li sculptures clothes while other design them. For fall, Li sculptured  bodies as silk bonded with aluminium, featuring heavily throughout the collection. This malleable fabric could be moulded and shaped with the hands – it was made up in to jackets and coats that covered the body, holding their shape like tin foil or other faun material. This not only gave a cosmic result – the fluid-ness of the overall collection was present everywhere. This copper coloured dress is out of this world, too. Is it avant-garde? Yes. YES.

This is the first Paris retrospective, and is viewed in the Matisse Room, were the dresses, jackets and skirts are showed. In the gallery, that was renovated by City of Paris, now we can see biggest hits of the body-dressing master, that is till now celebrated and loved my Naomi Campbell and Stephanie Seymour. “I make clothes, women make fashion”.
