Christian Wijnants

Usually, when I discover a designer which I haven’t known earlier, I’m living a one-day obsession with him or her. But with Christian Wijnants, I have a mania which will surely last for longer. With a soft point for Belgian fashion, no wonder why I’ve fallen in love with Wijnants’ unique, lady-like vision. Christian graduated from prestige Royal Academy of Fine Arts (‘Antwerp Six’ rings a bell?), and found his eponymous label back in 2003. As most of Belgian designers, he presents his collections to editors and buyers in Paris, and just a year ago, he opened his first flagship store in Antwerp – the city where his studio is based in. For autumn / winter 2016, Wijnants’ look-book oozes with urban femininity, peculiar colour combinations and bold patterns. A contemporary, style-conscious woman will go for one of those coats, questioning which colour is better – tangerine orange or pastel turquoise. Both look ground-breaking, so the choice isn’t easy. Knitted, olive-green turtlenecks are styled with striped baby-pink skirts, while the fluffy, fur cushion-clutches are this season’s candies out of all other accesories. The puffa jacket (of course in stripes!) is a burning desire, too. Is it a wardrobe of a modern-day dame? She’s an eccentric character, who loves to wear a pair of synthetic-white gloves to brunch!

Cashmere Drapes, Reconstructed Dutch. The Row Pre-Fall’16

the-row-pre-fall-2016-01

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen streamed their pre-fall 2016 look-book a week ago, with an over 2 month delay in comparison to other brands. However, it’s just in time before these clothes hit the stores, so on the 1st of May. Breaking news: The Row looks like a brand you will desire this autumn, even though I doubt you’re wondering about the next season knits right now. It’s a multi-layered, cashmere covered wonderland of softness and warmth, draped and reconstructed. Ribbed wool pants and dresses are as usual the The Row’s priority pieces, while the jackets with flowing silhouette look as if they were ripped out of a Dutch still-life portrait. There was a kind of elegant delicacy in this collection, too –  a milk-white slip dress with a ruffle at the hem worn with a button-down shirt, updated with puffed sleeves. Statuesque, yet light. The slouchy suede shopper bag ranks up high, too, as one of the best accessories of the season.

Glory Box. Victoria Beckham AW16

_VIC0451

Victoria Beckham‘s creative vision for her brand seems to evolve – just like her view on femininity. The autumn-winter 2016 collection was all about a very lady-like, yet contemporary woman – meaning a downtown personality in a loosely sculpted midi dress, wearing simple, patent-leather flats. Seems to be trivial – but it looks so effective, when worn with a graceful red lipstick. Also, it feels like Beckham is having a moment with her well-tailored coats. One is masculine and with double buttons, while the second one is all about a baggy, slightly slouchy look. However, both look like the must-have, seasonless statements of the designer’s winter outing. It’s getting better and better with every season, Victoria.

Simple. Proenza Schouler SS14

Slide1-kopiaFor me, the Guggenheim Museum in New York is a place for inspiration hunting. Not only art there makes your imagination work, but also the architecture of this building- the spiral, white interior of Guggenheim is one of the most beautiful thing in NYC. And, I don’t know why, but it feels to me that the Proenza Schouler designer duo had their beautiful collection influenced with this magnificient place! The show venue of the collection of PS SS14 collection was happening in a typical NY loft. It started with delicate leather coats, then changed into some very Proenza prints and ended up with metallic skirts and tops. I should say I really like the mature version of Proenza Schouler- the 10 year old label changes dramatically from a toxic-coloured-and-neon-printed-amazon-frog-girl into a beautiful, New York lady that adors to walk every morning to Central Park and fancies a dance in one of the New York’s hottest lobster bars… In other words, the clothes, shoes (that are pretty funny) and bags from that Summer collection at Proenza Schouler are simply beautiful! This is the New New York Look!Slide2 Slide3 Slide4 Slide5 Slide6

Cafe Noisette. Celine AW13

backstage_winter13_1Celine! Thanks God, Celine was sent to Paris Fashion Week! And it’s as always the best; nothing to add or subtract! Everything was kept in a minimalistic and modern way. Colours were fantastic: cream colour (shade of a Noisette Cafe in all Paris bar’s), beige, blueish, black and white. The first dress was perfect- simple and elegant! Coats were mind blowing- overloose, just great.
And definetly I also loved everything with structured tops- this is a new classic of Celine that was seen last season!
Did you see these green long boots that look like leggins? Amazing and sexy. And one of the most interesting things of the show were the dresses that had attached to back not used sleeves that were tied together as a connection! Quite complicated, I know, but still really cool. Unfortunately I didn’t liked the checked patterns on coats and skirt. It was a bit not matching the collection. However it is not spoiling the collection at all! And loved the mink fur dress! Minimalistic but luxurious! Phoebe Philo did a very good job this season! The best show of Paris!
