The queen of avant-garde from Paris, took as into a new dimension of fashion. Comme des Garcons for SS14 is not anymore Ready to Wear nor Haute Couture. It’s something that can be worn only by the mightiest people in the world. Structures, colours, recycling matter- this are the things that come to my mind after CDG show in Paris. I can’t speak. My heart stopped. AMAZING. ❤️
“Making flowers look new is not easy. Kane did so by dissecting the blooms’s decorative potential, quite literally. Petals were singled out as large-scale ergonomic cutouts traced in shiny patent that gave a graphic, pop effect to clean silhouettes in pastel solids and engineered lace” declared WWD after SS14 collection by Christopher Kane. Shortly: I LOVE IT TOO BAD. BEST, BEST, BEST! Everything was so amazing in this presentation. These laser cuts on dresses in flower patterns, the sweatshirts with flower cross-sections taken from Biology book, this high-tech made dresses and tops in spectrum colours. The flower biological anatomy was the key of the collection- I never thaught boring Biology lessons can be so inspiring! The emboidered petals, stems, anthers and stigmas looked fantastic on all closing dresses… and the “iron” droplets topic? Oh my, simply fantastic. Everything in this collection is so perfect and cool- why not- Christopher Kane is a real fashion genius, and I am happy Kering Group didn’t kill his spirit! Christopher Kane SS14 rules!
Yuppy! Francisco Costa celebrates the tenth anniversary at helm of Calvin Klein! It is a milestone, so no wonder his guests (Rooney Mara!), new venue and the after-party reflected with huge echo during the NYC Fashion Week! As you could observe on my blog, I have never been a huge fan of Calvin Klein, but this season Francisco impressed me with this season. The light dresses with these cool elements that flow in the air while moving are just perfect for dancing and these wide trousers… oh, so cool! The mixture of colours was also very interesting- white, mint green and pastel pink. What should I say more- LOVE IT!
Definitely, this is the season of light colours, virgin dresses and flowless skirt. But as always, the enfant terrible of fashion break the rules. And it is all about Mr. Jeremy Scott. Well, I expected the collection will be really up to the Jeremy world, full of prints, sexiness and colours. But… I also expected that Scott will shock a bit. But he didn’t. The collection “Teenagers from Mars” sounds crazy and I felt like it will be a really god collection. However it was very classical converting to Jeremy’s style- in other words, the colour and the print in the key. And the funny quotes that appear already like fifth time in his collections and start to be predictable. Bikini’s, mini skirts and cropped tops exposed most parts of body, so Jeremy Scott definitely invites his models to wear this summer than normal women. Fashion from perspective of Scott meant to be fun, but it starts to be SO MONOTONE. Only the guest list is changing- this time we saw Nicki Minaj in the front row. Yay?
The Rodarte show not only brought LA coolness to New York Fashion Week, but also showed that Laura and Kate Mulleavy are not only good in designing red carpet gowns! Whole collection was inspired with 80’s in Los Angeles, were the strip clubs and nightlife was dominant with lots pf neon lights, pool parties and hangovers. The SS14 by Rodarte is very sexy- skimpy skirts; lots of bikinis with ruffles; tiger prints. But also the clothes had something more to say than their sexiness- these cool trousers and biker jackets are for strong women that are not scared of showing off their splendours and… more things. Summarising, the collection is cool and really breaking the limits of Rodarte sisters that always make NYFW… Of course COOLER.
