December 20: New York Fashion Week was never so full of female designers- Rachel Comey, Mara Hoffman and Carin Rodebjer are just few examples. This means, that real women want to design for real women! Designer guys, you’ve earned new girls on the block… Rachel Comey, Mara Hoffman, Rodebjer, all SS15.
December 19: Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida are a lovely couple which makes the most eccentric denim (and not only) fashion in the world. Playing with volumes, colours and vibes, since the beginning Marques Almeida has been acclaimed by fashion editors as the new “go-to” brand of the year. My favourite thing that they did for 2014, was their crazy, very strong AW14 collection, where the designers had fun with fur stoles! Marta and Paulo also created a “spark”, making their signature fabric get really important on the London fashion scene.
December 17: Mona Kowalska’s New York based label, A Détacher, is just one of those cool, quiet and chic labels (which you don’t really need to comment).
December 16: The Olsen sisters make The Row super coveted not only it’s so luxurious- it’s also super wearable. You can wear one of their sweaters for so many years. It’s basically like Celine, but based in New York. The clothes, bags and shoes are always styled in smart way, and their Resort 2015’s model – Jamie Bochert – works the outfits in a moody, sophisticated way.
December 15: J.W. Anderson is the young London-based designer, which seems to be really busy at the moment- four collections for his womenswear, two for menswear and… four more collections for the historical Spanish label Loewe, a year. That’s a lot! But nothing makes Jonathan feel out-of-ideas: he can once be full of sharpness, once full of femininity. And for his debutant collection at Loewe presented earlier this year, he thought about using leather (Loewe’s biggest attribute) in new ways and forms. And that’s just the beginning of what this ultra-open-minded designer can bring to Loewe, and of course to his own brand, J.W. Anderson.
