Glamour Loves Humour. DsQuared2 SS17

_mon0497

Dean and Dan Caten‘s spring-summer 2017 collection at DsQuared2 is a collage of everything opulent and glamorous, with a good sense of humour. Leopard-print bustiers; leg-of-mutton sleeves (they seem to be everywhere this season) over a glossy taffeta mini-skirt; extremely slim, intricately embroidered cavalry jackets. The Canadian brothers play with volumes, blurring the lines between high-fetched femininity and slouchy masculinity. Sequined, over-sized denim pants worn with big shoulder pads at the top gave an impression of a hilarious exaggeration. The long-legged models looked even taller in those quite cartoonish combinations. DsQuared2 ends Milan Fashion Week in a very Italian way I must say – it’s an endless dolce vita for those two guys!

Tuscany: Fausto Puglisi X Ungaro

20130818-095357 PM.jpg
I am crazy in love with Emanuel Ungaro by Fausto Puglissi at the current moment! While you live in Italy for two weeks, you are like getting the idea of kitsch in fashion- Dolce Gabbana is all about tradition; Moschino is aristocracy; Prada is the new modernity; and Fausto Puglisi is a new comer of Italian fashion that is really messing around with his punk checks, embellished caps and leopard printed sexy dresses that are favourites of Coco Rocha. I was long observing this young designer, and after seeing the AW13 collection for dying label, Ungaro, I feel he, and few more young Italian designers will be leading the next era in Milan fashion! As I wrote, Emanuel Ungaro for a period of time s really dying. About a Lindsay Lohan catastrophy and lost of Avenue Montaigne boutique in Paris, this label needs a rescue boat in killing fashion world… So here it is- Puglisi!
As you see, the pieces I saw in the showroom here in Tuscany look very exciting and sexy… The prints, golden embroideries, in other words luxury! Fausto Puglisi is the name that is certainly one to watch, and Ungaro will again shock the world! 😄😄😄

Here something more about this talented designer! “Fausto Puglisi was born in Messina and started his carreer exporting his talent to the USA. When he was eighteen, he moved to New York and started collaborating with worldwide known stylists and photographers. His outfits gained great success and many Hollywood celebrities have been dressing Fausto Puglisi outfits at the most important events. Fausto Puglisi loves visual culture. He is inspired by the mix between the high culture and popular elements and the result is a really complex brand identity: heroic Sicily, Italian neo-realism movies, American star system, Roman gladiators, modern architecture and the richness of the Mediterranean Baroque. His geometric creations express a rich and defined style, focusing on color contrasts and embroideries research. His clothes embody an ideal of beauty based on strength, to design a contemporary glamour. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana appreciate Fausto Puglisi’s talent and asked him to be part of their “Young Designers” project, that gave him a great visibility inside their concept store Spiga2 in Milan. Fausto Puglisi dresses have been worn during important events like the Super Bowl 2012 halftime show and his company is fast growing among International buyers and press, thanks to this Sicilian designer’s determination and commitment.”

Tuscany: Forte dei Marmi

20130818-122946 PM.jpg
Forte dei Marmi is the most luxurious sea resort city in Tuscany. With it’s sandy beaches, warm water full of jellyfish and Prada/Dolce & Gabbana stores on every street, it’s like the Italian Florida, but much smaller and warmer! You shall find here lots of restaurants that are good, lots of artistic performances and craziest night clubs that can even be cooler than on Ibiza island… A night here in peace would be a nightmare, but a great shopping rush and sunbathe is totally alright in that place! And never speak of Portofino with the locals…

Tuscany: Antica Osteria de Divo

20130816-034630 PM.jpg
The Antica Osteria de Divo is a real pearl from all Tuscan restaurants. First of all, it’s not a usual Siena restaurant, but it is located in a… Cellar! And in a old one. You sit here with real mould growing on the walls, in cold air and dirty floors. Sounds kind of creepy, but the food is great. Very tipical, but good. Most dishes are served with fresh truffles, and the risotto and taglioni are amazing. Looks normally, but it is simple and very home like! Love it!

Tuscany: Siena

20130816-093926 AM.jpg
Siena, the charming town located around a hour from Florence, is the most beautiful place in Tuscany. Not because of only architecture. Also because of the people, the way they celebrate, live! And they really do their traditional holidays in an amazing way. La Contrada, that happened yesterday (when I was present in Siena) is for example the biggest celebration of the year in Siena, when 17 districts with different name meanings, conquer by the traditional games like throwing with a flag or horse-riding. Whoever wins, later the big feast is always the happiest moment in the town, when all locals feel like family! And no tourists are here then… 20130816-094717 AM.jpg20130816-094727 AM.jpg20130816-094741 AM.jpg20130816-094756 AM.jpg
The most important building is the Duomo, the church that is an art masterpiece. Decorated with thousands of small detailed sculptures on the facade, the frescos inside and the domes are just breath taking. The Duomo has different parts- in the crypt you shall see a beautiful painting of Caravaggio, and in the library the first real developed books in the world. This place is amazing, and you know what- it is not so tapping in religious way. When the priest was telling the locals the prayer, for me in Italian, it all sound like if he talked with his buddies in a Trattoria and not doing a big thing from that! That’s a real Italian way of life! Love it! 20130816-095524 AM.jpg

But while you are in Siena, it’s best to forget about your problems, and simply get lost in one of the streets! Buy some cool souvenirs, fruits and just wander around the city. I simply fell in love with all these hand made plates with fruit patterns on it… This town in other words is not on the city of art, but the city of juicy life!
