I Wish You Roses. Magda Butrym Pre-Fall 2023

Magda Butrym‘s pre-fall 2023 collection launched at the time Kali Uchis released her new, soothing single, I Wish You Roses. “I was a rose in the garden of weeds, my petals are soft and silky as my sheets, so do not be afraid to get pricked by the thorns“. Sometimes, a feeling is captured simultaneously by both, music and fashion. The Polish designer, who dresses Hollywood’s leading women, from Natalie Portman to Margot Robbie, knows how to serve a collection that’s feminine, romantic, yet absolutely badass and empowering. The pre-fall offering sees model Erin Wasson wearing the most sexy red dress of the season, literally blooming with hand-draped roses. There’s a column-dress moment in silver lamé; a summer-perfect sun-dress made entirely from crotchet; a hooded black gown giving total red carpet glam. The floral print, so signature for the brand, goes through a Kar Wai Wong’s In The Mood For Love lens this season. The eveningwear is hot, and Butrym keeps on evolving other parts of the wardrobe as well. The red blazer with broad, 1980s shoulders is as convincing and bold as the boxy leather coat. The best-selling heels with pinned flowers now come with the chicest pearls attached. “I wish you roses, yeah, roses, roses…“

Dallas Baby! Chanel Pre-Fall’14

Everything that happens in Dallas, is big. Just as Chanel. The capital of Texas state in USA inspired so much Karl Lagerfeld, that his Metiers d’Art collection for Pre-Fall literally took place in one of the Rodeo barns. It’s been a mutually beneficial match since way back in 1957, when Neiman Marcus’ Stanley Marcus, having embraced Coco Chanel’s 1954 comeback collection even as the French rejected it, gave Chanel the store’s Award for Distinguished Service in the field of fashion.

In reality, 900 people came to the “Fair Park, home of the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition and a National Historic Landmark” in Dallas city to see what Karl prepared for us. In American-English I would simply write: Oh gosh. This was amazing! And now normally- Yes. It was amazing. The Chanel collection for Fall was full of ponchos, chunky knitwear, cowboy hats and Rodeo chic (obviously). It seems that for Karl, fashion at Chanel is not a show after show, but it’s always a whole performance! Models phreshed down the runway in beautiful clothes, all in warm colours… Models like Erin Wasson (who is natively from Texas!) and Stella Tennant looked ‘gorg’ in their mustang jackets and cowgirl prints! But the star of the evening was definitely Miss Caroline de Maigret who was an Indian bride, wearing a feather made bonnet and white outfit… This closing of the show said one thing- Coco would be proud!

Logo. Alexander Wang SS14

The new collection of Alexander Wang was simply cool- certainly, Alex did feel that his label is in the status of the fame of his own logo. The collection was simply overflowing with the Alexander Wang black and white logo. And I did love it! This time Wang really excited me. The collection was all in white and black colours, with lots of transparency and funny PARENTAL ADVISORY sign that we all know from the films… Definetely Alexander Wang was inspired with the street fashion- lots of sweatshirts, shirt-dresses and sneakers were presented on really hot models! Hanne Gaby, Kasia Struss, Georgia May Jagger, Joan Smalls. Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell and the guest of the runway who full of grace closed the show- Erin Wasson, really made the event most buzzed about!
