Wild Spirit. Roberto Cavalli AW23

Fashion in Milan doesn’t look forward, but resorts to the past in search for inspiration. It’s either about going Y2k-heavy, which gradually becomes quite nauseous, or channeling something more retro. Fausto Puglisi is in the latter camp with his autumn-winter 2023 collection for Roberto Cavalli – and it’s surprisingly good. I can’t remember a decent Cavalli collection since the founder of the brand exited the creative role. Puglisi’s first offerings for the brand were hard to digest, and thankfully he toned it down. The new season vibe is hedonistic, with patchwork leather trimmed in crystals, animalia motifs of many kinds, and piles and piles of faux fur. Denim was another focal point. Jeans are how Cavalli got his start; backstage Puglisi talked about the house founder’s early days, when he tooled around Italy scrounging for denim scraps that he collaged into hippie treasures. They were the inspiration for some of the most hands-on, highly embellished pieces Puglisi has made yet at the label. A pair of bell bottoms were so shredded and shaggy they almost looked like fur, too. A 2022 trip through the American Southwest is still reverberating with Puglisi, and he conjured the aesthetic with tooled leather, silver studding, and turquoise beads. This collection lived up to Roberto Cavalli’s reputation for excess, but in a pleasing way.

Graphic. Fausto Puglisi Pre-Fall’14

Fausto Puglisi pre-fall collection for women is totally booming with sex-appeal. With it’s sharp cuts in the skirts and dresses, the collection seems to be perfect for showing off your leg. The collection is covered all over with kaleidoscopic prints and strong colours, although some looks are very simple. For example the coats with some colour block! The model, Yumi Lambert, kicks off in a great way all these denim jackets and skinny trousers… Fausto Puglisi certainly is the member of the new Italian designers!

Boom-Boom. Fausto Puglisi SS14

20130923-093700 PM.jpg
When Karolina Kurkova opens a show of a young designer, that means that a real talent is nurturing into something much more bigger… Fausto Puglisi, the designer of the moment from Milan, known for checked varsity jackets and gold ornamented skirts, this season had his first ever runway show. For SS14, Fausto not only showed his clothes have their own rock ‘n roll aestethics, but also are very feminine. We could see a Carolina Herrera mixed with Axel Rose in these amazing looks- a maxi blue dress with beautifully embroidered palms tapped with a leather biker jacket. Not only this collections had balls, but it looked real cool and great for Summer strolling somewhere at the Palm Springs… The fav designer of Coco Rocha, is now stealing the spotlight from a bit dusty Milan Fashion Week, but just ended today. Now we head to… Paris!

Tuscany: Fiacchini Boutique

20130818-063227 PM.jpg
The Fiacchini boutique in Forte dei Marmi that is a sea resort in Tuscany, is a great space that will for sure catch an eye of every fashionista. With it’s artistic interior full of rabbits, skulls and human anatomy decorations, this store sells hot labels like Celine, Equipment, Saint Laurent, Balmain, Fausto Puglisi and much more with many independent, less know Italian labels that the names I can’t recall. With champagne bottles all around, it feels here very modern and youthful, the clothes full of chic and trend and of course, the best, with individuality!
