Frip

Frip is the most open-minded concept store in Milan – it looks forward to designers which are rather fresh in the industry. Marques Almeida from London and their denim treasures; BACK from Scandinavia; Acne Studios and their über cool t-shirts. Of course, as in every serious concept store, you can find niche magazines, too, strongly connected to innovative fashion and individual point of view. Located in the old city district of Naviglio, Frip is a fresh breath of air in the crowd of big, pricey boys.

Faustine Steinmetz

The world of denim, you’ve got a problem. I introduce you to Faustine Steinmetz. In her label, each fabric is solely handwoven by one person using one of our traditional handlooms.
And, each piece is meticulously made by hand, with some pieces taking over a week to weave. “In our East London studio we spin, dye and weave all our own fabrics. We reproduce iconic pieces, the kind everyone has or has had in their wardrobe at one stage, except we make them all by hand.” Faustine Steinmetz creates and designs denim which isn’t really denim- it’s a new apparel vision, but on upper level. For AW14, we’ve got trousers which visually look like jeans, tartan dresses and lovely tops. Thoughts?

Ice Fresh. Prabal Gurung SS15

Slide06

As usually, Prabal Gurung brought us a bold and colourful collection. In his SS15, the designer wanted to continue what he began last season. ″I wanted to continue the journey,″ he said. ″This time it′s more a visual diary of her trek up the mountains.″ We′re back in the Himalayas, only now it′s spring. Instead of deep reds, he used a palette of sunset pastels. We had strong silhouttes, feathers, tafeta, ice fresh blue… As for summer, Prabal went really cold. The collection feels innovative, but in my opinion, there is too much of everything. Some strange fabrics, colour explosions, mesh, ruffles, mountains, knits… If that was meant to be a monk modesty, Prabal, then your quiet and calm mood went too far into loud noise.

Trademark

Trademark_010_1366.450x675

There is a new hot brand on the horizon created by Pookie and Louisa Burch. The offbeat brand called Trademark is just the name you need to know! Their new season was presented in cool look-book starring Waleska Gorczevski, which definitely matched the clothes. The picnic printed dresses, denim barn jacket with a red shearling collar and feltlike wool of one dirndl skirt are just the perfect fit for Summer gardening or autumn park stroll. Sweaters continue to be a highlight for Trademark; this season it was the trompe l’oeil twinset in royal blue and red that really stood out. Another clever idea: a silk evening pajama set in navy and off-white for the girl who wants to look pulled together without pulling on a dress in the best way. This pretty interesting brand is the one we are interested to watch evolve…

Sporty. Paco Rabanne Resort’15

Rabanne_001_1366.450x675

Julien Dossena is just the right thing for Paco Rabanne. He does exactly this, what Nicolas Ghesquiere did at Balenciaga. Julien brings this futuristic Parisian house back to its rise, in a more sophisticated and 21st century way… For resort 2015 which was styled by designer’s friend, Marie Amelie Sauve, Dossena introduced a new level of sporty elegance. Strongly coloured tank tops with straps worn with pencil skirts and polished sweatpants styled with interesting tops. And of course Julien’s signature thing: the V cut! It was on the skirts, on the blouses… Maybe the new Paco Rabanne doesn’t remind us the Space Odyssey, but you need to admit- there is something extremely futuristic about it.
