Maison’s Crystalizing

00250h_269973347_north_883xAt the Maison Martin Margiela X Swarovski collaboration during the MMM couture show, I was shocked how much phisics and science can change fashion. These crystal elements attached to the latex boots and bracelets  are not simply sticked with glue- no, on this occasion, Maison Martin Margiela did in fact debut something completely new. They worked with Swarovski and their new Crystalactite technology to create pieces of jewellery that glinted at you on the catwalk as cuffs clasped around shiny riding boots. The new innovation in the fact that it’s the first time Swarovski have fused crystal and white resin together without the use of glue creating a hybrid material that looks like it might have naturally grown that way over time. Margiela was the first ever house invited to such experiment and used inspiration from stalactites formations (hence the hybrid name) grown in caves. NOW AVAILABLE at COLETTE

Eddie Borgo AW13 Campaign

zdjęcie 1-kopia 2The new Eddie Borgo jewellery campaign with beatiful Julia Restoin Roitfeld (daughter of Carine Roitfeld) is simply stunning. Nothing to add, nothing to subtract. The backround reminds me of elegant New York lofts with slightly Art Deco furnitures and wallpapers… Julia stands in a smoky room, wearing Elisabeth Taylor inspired  Cleopatra jewels looking beautiful! Just like the collection itself. Eddie went into the right direction. I really love the egyptian inspired decorations, for their ornaments and splendour. Here, Borgo have just slightly moderised the theme, adding more minimalistic touch. Well this is the best jewellery campaign I have seen till now for AW13!zdjęcie 2-kopia 2zdjęcie 1-kopiazdjęcie 2-kopiazdjęcie 3-kopiazdjęcie 4-kopia

HC: Sous le Signe du Lion

20130708-101028 PM.jpg

Chanel Sous le Signe du Lion is the name of the new Chanel Haute Couture Jewellery that was shown recently in Paris. The collection, comprising 58 big cat-inspired jewels was present on the models that walked the runway in these super cosmic gowns and costumes.
As in all Chanel jewellery, the topic is about Gabrielle Chanel life, her beloved objects and inspirations. So why the Lion was chosen as the motive of AW13 Haute Couture stunning jewels? First of all, Chanel was under star sign of Lion, that may give as a clue. In her Ritz apartment, a golden Lion statue stood that was a present from one of her boyfriends- and as I suppose, she loved it. It was even a main decorations of one of the Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel collections…
In 1920 she travelled to Venice for the first time, at an impressionable moment her life when she was living with the death of Boy Capel, her great love. Being inspired by the waters of the lagoon and entranced by the opulence of Byzantine art, it was in Venice that Gabrielle emerged from her sorrow. The lion is the symbol of St Mark, the patron saint of the city, whose relics rest in the Basilica. The lion is also a symbol of power and the dominance of Venice over the world during the Renaissance – thanks to this, her Rue Cambon apartment was all in lion statues and till now the brooches and buttons of tweed jackets got a symbolic lion on them, under the house of Chanel.

Margiela X Swarovski

After seeing up closely at Style Bubble the Maison Martin Margiela X Swarovski collaboration in the MMM couture show, I was shocked how much phisics and science can change fashion. These crystal elements attached to the latex boots are not simply sticked with glue- no, on this occasion, Maison Martin Margiela did in fact debut something completely new. They worked with Swarovski and their new Crystalactite technology to create pieces of jewellery that glinted at you on the catwalk as cuffs clasped around shiny riding boots. Margiela was the first ever house invited to such experiment and used inspiration from stalactites formations (hence the hybrid name) grown in caves. Do you remember Chanel AW12? The inspiration were also crystals, and the shoes had a similar element, but that was still not this.
