The Logo. Anthony Vaccarello SS15

September 23, 2014 | Design & Culture by Ed

Slide2

First Paris Fashion Week show, and first impression. Anthony Vaccarello does logo. Even the wonder-boy of sex-appeal got touched by logo mania (read: commercialism). “Letters as a sharp graphism on the body. A wild, urban way to dress. I will be featuring prints for the first time in my collection.” Oh, I see. That’s why we’ve got the sweatshirts with A N T H O N Y  V A C C A R R E L L O sign opened the show. Then we had also some very Versace-esque slim gowns (possibly an influence from Anthony’s SS15 Versus Versace debut in New York, earlier this month) with huge, gross A’s and V’s. But I still loved the leather pieces. And the skirts giving some leg to the models (like Mica Arganaraz or Binx Walton). This part felt much more Vaccarello-ish than the seriously Vaccarello-ed stuff.

Marc Jacobs Bunnies

July 4, 2014 | Design & Culture by Ed

It’s the second collaboration between Marc Jacobs and Playboy – the first one was all about Kate Moss printed t-shirts, and now it’s all about… bunnies! The sweatshirts kept in beautiful, AW14 colours, were created for the magazine’s 60th anniversary, and they got that huge bunny all over it… there is also a black t-shirt with sequin Playboy logo appliqued on and few other statement pieces. In love…

Forever YSL

December 11, 2013December 11, 2013 | Design & Culture by Ed

Since 1961, the YSL logo of the Parisian Maison Saint Laurent is known to everybody, who has something to do with fashion. It was firstly designed by Adolphe Mouron aka Cassandre, who was creating covers for Bazaar and Vogue. This great fashion illustrator designed YSL logo for back then alive Mr. Saint Laurent. It was copied and used for the next decade a lot… Even after Hedi Slimane came to the house and messed up with label’s name! From Yves Saint Laurent, only SL left, and the Yves spirit seemed to die… However, Hedi is smart. For fans who still can’t remember it’s SL today, he did a capsule collection of jewellery and accessories called Cassandre- the pieces got the first logo of this old French fashion house. For me it seems very classical and a bit vintage nowadays, but definitely, worldwide, there are big fans of logomania- for them YSL will be always YSL, no matter what. Logo means LUXURY… Sad that some people still think Gianni is alive and Galliano is still doing splendour at Dior. They don’t really like new changes in fashion because once they bought a full of gems and logos Dior bag, thinking it will be fashionable forever. But, this is not really the case.
P.S. That is going to be funny if Nicolas Ghesquiere (yes, GHESQUIERE, NOT JACOBS) will change Louis Vuitton into simple Vuitton. Millions of bags with LV logo will be in sorrow…

Logo. Alexander Wang SS14

September 8, 2013 | Design & Culture by Ed

Slide1-kopia 3The new collection of Alexander Wang was simply cool- certainly, Alex did feel that his label is in the status of the fame of his own logo. The collection was simply overflowing with the Alexander Wang black and white logo. And I did love it! This time Wang really excited me. The collection was all in white and black colours, with lots of transparency and funny PARENTAL ADVISORY sign that we all know from the films… Definetely Alexander Wang was inspired with the street fashion- lots of sweatshirts, shirt-dresses and sneakers were presented on really hot models! Hanne Gaby, Kasia Struss, Georgia May Jagger, Joan Smalls. Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell and the guest of the runway who full of grace closed the show- Erin Wasson, really made the event most buzzed about!
