Perfection. The Olsen sisters know how. If you see a woman wearing a caftan this Spring on Manhattan, then guilt The Row’s SS14. If you see huge, 900 gram heavy cashmere sweaters- also think of The Row. This eponymous brand really influences fashion. It’s ultra-luxurious approach towards the silhouettes, clothes and fabrics is impressive. Oh, fabrics. This time for Resort they were the biggest thing at The Row! Sea Island cotton, natural linen, double-face wool, supple suede and knitted cashmere are just few examples of fabrics that were used to create this great collection. And all of that was perfectly composed into gorgeous outfits! Maxi coats, oxford shoes, delicate blouses, super wide trousers… and all linked with mink belts that reminded of Phoebe Philo’s idea for AW14 Celine. To sum up, for me the American version of Celine is The Row and Parisian version of The Row is Celine. Why? Both are best quality and… perfect (sorry for my bias)!
Luxury
The 29,000$ Dress
If you feel like spending money on the most expensive dress of the season, then it’s the correct address for you. This organza dress made out of yarn, hand-cut clouds and designed by Marc Jacobs for AW14 is the most “pricey” this fall, of all. As the fabric itself cost 8000$ to Marc Jacobs studio, the price in total is very for the happy days that are here again. Yes, without this beautiful, pastel jacket, that gown is about 29000$. No wonder why- it is really beautiful!

Classy Alaia
No fuss, more impact. As always out of schedule, but with friends and cozy atmosphere, Alaia presented his new collection, that is the first one after his recent Musee Galliera exhibition. And, it was totally Alaia. Nothing mind-breaking, but only, and only, class and elegance. Leather, pony hair, knitted body dresses, hooded gowns… and everything kept in toned colours. Mainly, Alaïa stuck to subtle silhouette updates, offering a roomier V-neck jumper and adding a rectangular fringe—occasionally knotted—to the edge of his skirts to give them a fresh swish in place of his typical flounce. A technique he dubbed “Religieuse” combined larger organ pleats with interior accordion pleats, and on a floor-grazing skirt or a truncated cape, the result was something akin to seeing Sister in the corner office. Indeed, with the recurrence of all those starched white poplin shirts, Alaïa further confirmed how his view of femininity has shifted since his heyday of cleavage-bearing necklines.
Royals. The Row AW14
The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen created a new vision- the perfect clothes. These ones are for “always”. For all events, for all situations. They are all in brown, beige, black palette. And they are comfortable.
The AW14 of The Row was full of genius coats and knitwear that perfectly fits today’s New York weather situation. The maxi dresses with collars and monastic prints brought some charm to the collection, just like the fur hoods of the black capes and the Oxford shoes that are everywhere this season. Surely when the clothes hit the store, they will be best-sellers… Not because it’s trendy, but simply ageless. That was the best collection of the label to date.
Lemaire’s Summer

Christophe Lemaire is definitely one of the hot names in Paris. He is designing for Hermes, and his own, beautiful label, making both of the houses minimalistic and fresh. At Hermes, Christophe took us to the jungle- but in very luxurious way. More, you wouldn’t go to the jungle in one of these jumpsuit, but live in one of these luxurious hotels with villas… Presented in a beautiful environment with lots of palms and trees, the collection was a mix of practical resort life and luxurious Hermes heritage. And if looking to the Lemaire’s line, we may be still located around the palm trees, but in a beautiful living room in one of Saint Honore apartments in Paris. SS14 for Christophe Lemaire was all about Parisian chic cut with a twist of exotic life. And the shoes… They really look awesome!
