Since Katie Hillier and Luella Burtley are present at MBMJ, the label caught some fresh air. The rebellious Marc by Marc Jacobs is a bold, provocative character, she’s a riot and she is full of power. MBMJ brought bold prints on mini-skirts, punk berets, dyed denim and heavy-duty accessories. Also, there was something of a scout girl. Bandanas tied around the necks and strict, slightly modified, camo print dominated the show. Or else they had a mini-skirts that suggested the fashion radicalism of Vivienne Westwood in the early ’80s. Good one, MBMJ.

MBMJ / Advent 2014
December 21: Before, Marc by Marc Jacobs was a sister line of Marc Jacobs which, in reality, needed a boost. Basically, it was boring and ultra-commercial. But since Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley took the label over, it’s so, so BOOM-BOOM-POW.Their AW14 was all about Bolshevik-fonted dresses and skate-girl attitude, while SS15 was all about latex, polka dots and being kawaii. And the famous cornrows used in both collections, give the girls a sharp look. These two Brits feel like at home in New York… BRAVO to the new MBMJ!

The New World System. MBMJ SS15
Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, since last season, are the girls behind MBMJ (Marc by Marc Jacobs). And they are really doing a REVOLUTION (see AW14) at this brand! For summer, the designers brought a new strong sign- The New World System. With this, written on the cool tomboy shirts, we all really felt something new and refreshing. For example the round, sculptural plexi handbag (it’s FAB). Plastic-like polka dots tops. Latex looking blouses and leggings. And very polished Dr. Martens boots…the collection was really colourful, and it felt super cute and kawaii! What else felt lovely was the fact, that the collection is totally bold, youthful, fun… and these things are a bit missed in present fashion world. Katie and Luella, keep on doing what you are doing- it’s MEGA ULTRA great.
