Lurex Vision of Proenza

Slide1-kopia 3

During the SS14 Fashion Week in New York, one label that was the most buzzed around was surely Proenza Schouler. The designer duo, Lazara Hernandez and Jack McCollough, made their sophisticated and eponymous label the hottest export product from the Big Apple! Gathering the coolest models around (Jamie Bochert and Edie Campbell, for example?), mixing fabrics that no one other would use (LUREX!) and creating the new New York chic, the PS boys really nailed it. The collection was kept in warm, creme / red / gold colours with some small dose of tree branch print. We also spotted some ethno vibes- the bags and coats with this navajo-like material and all these metallic bustiers with golden flowers and buggs on it! I found the shoes too a bit African inspired- these wooden platforms and leather embroideries made it this season on the accessory list.

This lurex striped maxi dress. Looks so amazingly sexy and beautiful on Jamie. Lurex, a very artificial fabric, that is not really considered us a luxury material, makes the dress suprisingly soft and delicate! And notice one thing- this a bit disco-like gown is not styled with heels, but… metallic geek sandals. Love it insanely.

Milestone. Calvin Klein SS14

Slide1-kopia  Yuppy! Francisco Costa celebrates the tenth anniversary at helm of Calvin Klein! It is a milestone, so no wonder his guests (Rooney Mara!), new venue and the after-party reflected with huge echo during the NYC Fashion Week! As you could observe on my blog, I have never been a huge fan of Calvin Klein, but this season Francisco impressed me with this season. The light dresses with these cool elements that flow in the air while moving are just perfect for dancing and these wide trousers… oh, so cool! The mixture of colours was also very interesting- white, mint green and pastel pink. What should I say more- LOVE IT!Slide2 Slide3 Slide4 Slide5 Slide6 Slide7 Slide8

Boring. Reed Krakoff SS14

Slide01The SS14 at Reed was… hmm, like every Reed Krakoff collection for Summer. And that means- boring. It felt too classical with all these boudoir dresses in white colours and the mix of beige and lime… well it look cool in Zara, but not on the runway in at the end of the New york Fashion Week! Common, Reed, fashion has to be a bit more fun… I respect your aestethics, but why don’t you do something a bit more shocking than three looks with this neon coour from last season? Should that be the New York classical chic? Oh, no. Then I prefer a Michael Kors bomb than this collection that would be better for Resort….

LA Strip Girl Gang. Rodarte SS14

Spring 2014 RTW Photos NYTimes.com Fashion
The Rodarte show not only brought LA coolness to New York Fashion Week, but also showed that Laura and Kate Mulleavy are not only good in designing red carpet gowns! Whole collection was inspired with 80’s in Los Angeles, were the strip clubs and nightlife was dominant with lots pf neon lights, pool parties and hangovers. The SS14 by Rodarte is very sexy- skimpy skirts; lots of bikinis with ruffles; tiger prints. But also the clothes had something more to say than their sexiness- these cool trousers and biker jackets are for strong women that are not scared of showing off their splendours and… more things. Summarising, the collection is cool and really breaking the limits of Rodarte sisters that always make NYFW… Of course COOLER.
