Sweet love. Pastels. Silent and sexy at the same time. Christophe Lemaire nailed it this season (as usual). The master of Parisian chic told us, how to look stylish with a bit of sex-appeal. Fluffy sweaters showing some nipples, wooden bags in the shape of female breasts, exposure of shoulders – and all layered up by chic capes and warm pencil skirts. If Lemaire’s AW15 would be a dessert, it would taste like macarons from Parisian Laduree patisserie. Or like a chocolate croissant with a cup of coffee. I am simply drooling over the styling, the models and the overall mood – sensual, eponymous and utterly simple. A definition of Parisian woman from Le Marais.
Parisian Chic
Alaïa SS15
Azzedine Alaia is the only designer which shows his collection whenever he wants, always out of schedule. Far from paparazzi, Anna Dello Russo and Russian “fashionistas”, the master of XX-XXI century couture showed his summer collection, which looked like lace- but in reality, was all about fine knitting. We had some beautiful tailored shirts, exotic leather jackets, safari suits and airy caftans. All based on natural colours, the collection was simple, but very less is more. In reality this collection was chic-er and more couture than any haute couture show presented lately. And again, Alaia proves us one basic fact- his fashion is timeless. The dress which was bought 10 years ago from Alaia looks as good as the one bought one year ago. This is a real genius of fashion.
Under The Palm Tree. Isabel Marant SS15
“My girl’s got a city to run,” Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig intones on SBTRKT’s “New Dorp. New York.”, the soundtrack to the Isabel Marant show, and the collection is all about that woman. A city girl in tailored but textural shapes, accented with elements from her travels to Africa and exotic islands. Tailored trousers and pleated, tiered mini skirts mixed with knitted shag coats and fringed tabarts, wrapped and tied at the waist. Maybe that wasn’t the best Isabel Marant collection, but you can’t say it was bad. It was french, and it felt like a good take on beach walk. It was very Parisienne, and at the same time ethnical.
Parisian Chic. Lanvin SS15
Beautiful. Simply magnifique! Alber Elbaz, the designer of Lanvin, celebrates 125 years of that old, Parisian brand! Jeanne Lanvin created this brand for chic women- Alber Elbaz continues her motif up to today. For SS15, we’ve got really beautiful clothes here. Pink v-neck slip dresses. Check. Non-chalant blazer. Check. Statuesque gowns. Check. Everything is sexy, but with taste. And lets also note, which amazing models were present (and all my favourites): Edie Campbell, Jamie Bochert, Natalie Westling, Mica Arganaraz, Malgosia Bela… it was a real model clash. I also fell in love with the kind of dark, melancholic atmosphere- the dresses were feminine, but with a typical, elusive mystery hidden in it. If talking of the king of chic, mister Alber simply takes the crown this season.
Coperni Femme
The winners of ANDAM Fashion Award, Sebastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant created a chic label which is on everybody’s lips right now in Paris. The brand’s signatures? Sharp tailoring, interesting detailing and sophisticated, Margiela like silhouettes. The AW14 look-book is also full of nice blazers and pants… and even if the collection might feel dull for some people, there is this red outfit at the end – and it perfectly reflect Parisian chic.
