Fantasy. Sophie Buhai SS21

Sophie Buhai is one of my favourite, contemporary labels specialising in jewellery. The L.A. talent is rewriting the rules of luxury with her handmade, softly sculptural, sterling silver and gold vermeil blings. Her spring-summer 2021 collections delivers all her signatures with some gorgeous updates. From freshwater pearls to sensual curves and bulbous shapes (think earrings resembling water droplets), those pieces are here to last forever. Find it alongside new statement ear and hand pieces, inspired by time spent in the garden, featuring metal renditions of the vines from the designer’s favourite spot. Those pieces – which are actual wearable art – make me think of Claude Lalanne’s delightful works (the artist especially known for her collaboration with Yves Saint Laurent – ‘Les Robes Lalanne’ and bodily adornments from the 1969 haute couture collection). In her signature, intricate electroplating process, objects like leaves, twigs, petals, berries and other organic materials are completely transformed into copper. But back to Buhai. The “Fantasy Collection” is now available for pre-order on her site. I recommend taking a look at it…

Lost Pearl. Karla Spetic SS15

Slide2-kopia Karla Spetic’s collections from Sydney are always a pleasure. Her minimalistic aesthetics mixed with some artsy twist, make her sporty clothes look street and cool. Her SS15 was all about pearls- the materials that were kept in a pearl white colour; the crumpled surfaces of soft dresses reminding the imperfections of pearls; and the photo of a pearl located in that PLACE. And of course this exciting venue that was a pool! It all looked perfectly with the white Reeboks and over-sized shirts. As once Jackie Kennedy said: Pearls are always appropriate!952647-1_l 952649-1_l 952657-1_l 952687-1_l 952665-1_l 952677-1_l

Resort 2014 Dior Jewellery

Dior Resort 2014 1 The Dior Resort 2014 collection that was presented on a pier in Monaco impressed all- with it’s dynamic colours, easy forms and beautiful detailing. And thats all thanks to Raf Simons fashion genius. The jewellery that was seen at the show also caught my eye! No more diamonds, emeralds and other- the Simons version of beautiful jewellery is a minimalsitic mix of plastic, gold and pearls. The necklaces and bracelets look pretty flexible and elastic with their strong colours… and masking it still look very Dior. But more like the new Dior!dior-01 dior-03 dior-04 dior-02 dior-05

Pearls. Simone Rocha SS14

20130917-092722 PM.jpg
The new collection from London’s hottest new talents, Simone Rocha, is a remastered Coco Chanel look mixed with Film Noir aesthetics and Marilyn Monroe girlie looks- in other words, the element that was everywhere at Rocha’s SS14 collection? Pearls. Pearls everywhere! On dresses, trousers pockets, bags, shoes… Simone Rocha sewed them even on her classical dress with a lace ruffle! This is possibly the strongest collection of John Rocha’s daughter to date with it’s mature touches like elegant mini evening dresses with pearl collars and fantastic tomboy shoes… But it still was very Rocha- not too girlie and not too sophisticated- in other words, super comfortable and easy to wear!
