Concept 21 Store
Concept 21 Store is more than an ordinary fashion boutique. Here, fashion fuses with cosmetics, perfumes, design and art. Located in the heart of Poznan, Concent 21 is the first place in Poland where the Milan-based label, No21, found it’s place; the sensual, poetical frgrances of niche-perfume brand, Meo Fusciuni have already enchanted the city’s most demanding nose. Ecological beauty products by ILA are ready to revitalise the skin of women which want to feel always beautiful and on the go! At Concept 21, arworks of local Polish artists and craftsmen are present, too. The interior is modern, but with many vintage, cozy details. As for the opening, Concept 21 feels very into the spring-time with a pop-up space by Kwiaty i Miut. I would love to hear what you think about our “baby”!

Ciekocinko Palace

Let the Easter retreat begin! And what’s better than a country escape? This time, I chose Ciekocinko Palace, which is located in the Northern part of Poland. It took ten years for the owner to make it alive and beautiful again – wallpapers come straightly from San Francisco, the chimney are original remains of the 20’s while all of the furniture come from prestigious British auction houses. The hotel contains two amazing restaurants, which use local products and ingredients. I tell you, it’s so good – my favourite breakfast dish is the Kashubiam speciality: apple pancakes with natural sour cream. For dinner, I am a slay to the delicious tatar. If you ever come to Poland, visit this place – you will truly feel like a king (or queen) of a palace.

Modern Sister-hood. Area AW15
I am so proud. It’s the first time a Polish designer is really in the spotlight in New York. It’s Piotrek Panzczyk and his Parsons MA partner, Beckett Fogg, which nurture their imaginary baby since 2013 – Area. And their AW15 collection which hit the web proves, that these two are up to something big. They have a specific way of synthesising their textiles and bringing their ideas to another dimension – abstract ideas of sister-hood which is visible on their mood-board; wool and lame mixed with some ultra modern resins and materials. The polished patent flares caught my eye, just like the sleek tops which make me think of reptile’s moist skin. Everything looks sharp and sculptural. Keep an eye for this couple… and visit this fresh area.
The Eye
Malwina Konopacka is a young, Polish artist which paints on porcelain and paper, creating a slightly nostalgic 60’s vibe around her works. Her recent cycle called “OKO” (The Eye) is all about her beautifully designed and printed vases, which truly make me think of Mondrian in a way. Spontaneously, the first vase was contrived when she was studying arts and design; then, her works were exhibited in Tokyo in order to present the world the design originating from Poland. The eye motif appeared since the beginning – as she states, painting on porcelain is a very relaxing thing to do. I already see one of her works in my house… Photos by Aga Bilska for USTA.
