Julien d’ys Does Hair at Comme des Garcons

A Comme des Garçons show isn’t complete without the hair alchemy of Julien d’ys. Born Pierrick Le Verge, he’s been defying convention for three decades with his off-kilter, theatrical creations for the likes of Chanel, John Galliano and, most famously, Comme des Garçons, where he’s worked with Rei Kawakubo since 1991. Every season, d’ys elevates Kawakubo’s outsider sensibilities with creations that stem from obscure corners of the imagination, from oiled black wigs inspired by David Lynch’s The Elephant Man to candy-floss creations covered in safety pins. SS14 saw d’ys wrap shreds of black fabric around paint-stripped hair to blur the boundaries between beauty and sculpture. “Rei is a genius and I respect her very much. She likes to provoke people through her collections and I like that; perhaps that’s why we get on so well! She understands that I like to create an element of theatre and do things that are a little different, so when we work together it’s magic. She is always telling me to be strong, strong, strong, and never cute! “

Men’s: Comme des Garcons AW14

20140119-111200 AM.jpg
The Comme des Garcons Homme Plus collection for AW14 was all about Hiroshima chic and apocalyptic style that this label is believing in from the beginning. The collection was (no wonder) dark and dull, although there were some pieces that are really high IQ. For example the necklace that remind suite’s collar. Or the grungy chunky sweaters with holes cut out… And the most amusing and frightening thing of this greasy collection was the hair that models had- it reminded me of “Alien” movie were these shrimp-like UFO had these long, black structures on heads. This CdG presentation is definitely not the basic one, but still, it’s fun… And spooky.

Paris: Comme des Garçons Store

20140103-100727 PM.jpg
What I love about Comme des Garcons is it’s philosophy for women and men who wear it’s clothes. Thanks to it’s designer, Rei Kawabuko, the Japanese label known for fashion that is not always this what it seems to be, is keeping it always silent. While the clothes are chaotic (strange combinations of fabrics, lack of regularity in symetry), Comme seems to be eternally kept in silence. Well- in CdG stores, it’s normal that there is no music played.
What I must admit, the Comme des Garcons store on Rue Saint Honore is fantastic. As always crazy in it’s space (but located in quiet patio of one of the Parisian stonehouses), the boutique is like a wonderland. Huge, all covered in red, with huge tables and amazing pieces of art, the store is impressive. Just like the clothes! So architectural, bizarre and at the same time a bit eerie… But these are the reasons why Comme is so desired. Not only by Japanese CdG maniacs, but also by people who simply enjoy the logo- a funny, smiling heart.
The store also contains all 17 (!) lines of Comme des Garcons, Junya Watanabe and all men lines. And also all types of accessories, notebooks, umbrellas and others that are necessary for every Comme des Garcons lover!

Halloween Horror’s: CDG SS14

1051578 31st of November. The city is dark. The skycrapers are off. It’s so dark, but at the same time… mysterious. Down the road in Paris, you go- it’s kind of artistic and elusive. All these people around look disturbing. Their costumes seem to be strange and not usual. VERY unusual. They all wear Comme des Garcons for SS14, which is amazingly amzaing, and at the same time creepy. Definitely some thing cool for Halloween horror fashion moment…105156110515651051569105158210515641051560
