The MET was Heaven.

Maria Carla Boscono by Juergen Teller.

I very rarely write about such mainstream events as the MET Gala, but this year was awkwardly… good. A heaven’s gift, even. Noting this year’s Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme, the guests had to give a thought to their appearance. Actually, it could have gone all wrong. But, surprisingly, some of the looks will become somewhat iconic! And that’s something to cherish. It’s truly pleasing to know that there are actors, musicians and celebrities that want to break the norms and dare to stand out on the red carpet – especially at MET, where boredom should leave right away.

I know I might look really late with this fellow ranking of the best looks, comparing to all the others in the industry (well, my final exams are in progress, so please do excuse me!). But still, posting this feels like a right thing to do.

How I love Frances McDormand in this Valentino haute couture ensemble. She looks so non-chalant, yet chilled out. And she smoked a cigarette, while wearing that magnificent headwear. Thanks God for Pierpaolo Piccioli, who really nailed it with that collection, and thanks God for Frances, a woman to adore and admire.

Well, Rihanna in John Galliano‘s major Maison Margiela pope fashion. No explanation needed I guess.

Anthony Vaccarello‘s Saint Laurent gang of dark angels that featured Zoë Kravitz, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anja Rubik, Kate Moss, Mica Arganaraz and Charlotte Casiraghi. Hell yes.

Solange in Iris Van Herpen is somewhere between an alien dominatrix and a Goddess. Can be two at a time, why not.

Possibly, Greta Gerwig wanted to look elegantly invisible. Well, that dramatic The Row dress was the MET Gala’s most serene fashion moment, but in the best possible way. A nun goes to the ball! Love.

Susie Cave‘s velvet Gucci gown is pure romance, as if taken straight from a romantic era ballad.

I’m picky, I know. But those were my ultimate favourites. Amen.

When She Meets Juergen

I rarely post editorials with celebrities, but this one is an exception. Rihanna kills it. Juergen Teller nails it. Vogue Paris, you really do know the meaning of the word ‘gift’.

Safarinette. Balmain AW14

There is no shock that Bad Gal RiRi arrived to the anticipated Balmain show today. Being a close friend of Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director, Rihanna had her SS14 campaign for the house done a month ago by Inez & Vinoodh… So striking a pose in the finale outfit from the collection for the new photographs is also something unexpected. But to be true, she looks beautiful as always… And even sexier in that khaki jacket!
The collection for AW14 was a continuation of it’s Pre-Fall. In other words, that was all about safari chic, African vision situated in Paris and sexy, sleek clothes. The khaki coloured Safarinette jackets, jumpsuits, leopard prints, Alaia “flair” skirts… And then those vibrant colours of yellow, orange and red, reminding the beautiful Masai tribes. A lot of things was on Olivier’s moodboard, but surely one inspiration had it’s solid position- the Balmain jacket. In the new version for fall, it went zebras. And I definitely love it this way!

Bad Gal. Emilio Pucci SS14

Slide1-kopia 2Peter Dundas said backstage the Emilio Pucci SS14 show that he was strongly inspired with the hottest musicians of the moment- he lately dressed for scene and day Rita Ora, Rihanna and Beyonce, that are all known for wearing dresses with sexy cuts, coloyrful prints and of course… a nice price tag. But this is not it. Peter Dundas simply copied Balmain and Tom Ford into his collection! Just look- the shiny jackets, printed parkas, luxury sportwear with sequins, super high heels, gowns with silver sleeves… These are just few things that are taken from Oliver Rousteing and Ford’s mind. And that’s pretty rude in fashion world. But… the collection was quite cool. The best thing were these rock ‘n roll hair styles on models and the closing by Malgosia Bela!
