Lane Marinho

Scrolling down the feed and filtering Instagram can be sometimes a good thing – and surely, when you are about to discover new, fresh designers with their unique vision! My latest find is the remarkably talented footwear designer, Lane Marinho. Lane is based in Sao Paulo, which currently experiences a kind of fashion renaissance. After working for several, big shoe companies in Brazil, Marinho decided to start experimenting with natural materials (like sea-shells and local natural stones) in order to make her ideas and old dream come true. She created her own label, which focuses on hand-made shoes and the heritage of artisan craftsmanship. As you can see on the photographs of Henrique Gendre, who is Lane’s collaborator since the beginning of her fashion adventure, the brand’s signature pieces are meticulously embroidered sandals. All of them are cut, sewed and hand-painted by the designer herself, which marks that all of the exemplars are one-of-a-kind and produced in very small quantity. Currently, the Brazilian designer has three collections under her belt, and all of them look equally impressive – and the shoes presented in bold, still life aesthetic (styled by another collaborator of the brand, Renata Corrêa) add warmth to this gloomy, rainy day.

Super Unconventional

Once worn by German tourists and Polish geeks (no offense!), now sandals with socks are the hottest trend. SERIOUSLY. This mix is ugly. But, somehow, it’s hot right now, with all those crocs and birkenstocks… For example, take the British label, Whistles, which AW14 collection was all about black socks and black sandals! Or the affordable brand, Bassike, that you may see above- grey socks and birkenstocks look like a perfect with this flattering skirt and grey blouse a la Celine. And, above all, the trend spreads immediately because it’s everywhere (just see Tommy Ton’s street photos on… So, for this occasion (that makes your feet warm & cool in summer and winter) I did my selection of great flats with some classical, triple striped American Apparel socks… that you may buy now!

Most Artsy Accesssories for SS14

Slide1-kopia 2The SS14 Fashion Month recently ended, so now the thing that feels right is to filter everything from every show- from skirts to bags, from sunglasses to socks. While you can see like most of accessesories from the shows in the web, I thought of a selection of my favourite trend of the season. While the Frieze is happening, the most Artsy list of shoes and backs feel totally in the right place. So just feed your eyes on these masterpieces! And the art I used as backround is Jeff Koons. Of course.

Tuscany: Badia a Passignano

The beautiful little town of Badia a Passigno is supplied if three things- one beautiful mens monastery of Benedictans, and two restaurants (SOON!). Surrounded with large grape fields and dozens of palaces and wineries, the town, that is very not touristic, but warm and delicious, keeps secrets from the ancient times till nowadays! Here is what Lena wore: Mary Katrantzou dress, Celine bag, Balenciaga sandals, Shourouk bracelet and Thom Browne sunglasses.
