1987. A.P.C. AW17

KIM_1392

1987. The year A.P.C. was found by Jean Touitou. 2017 – the brand celebrates its 30th anniversary. 30 years of apparel clothing that actually defines the real nature of ready-to-wear. It’s often unclear why A.P.C. became one of the most beloved brands. “It’s boring“, one might say. So what? Their raw denim is well-cut. T-shirts last for years and make the customer satisfied. Trench coats and white shirts are ultimate essentials. A.P.C.’s branding is aesthetical perfection, just like the boutiques, music albums and candles. What’s best – although A.P.C. shows during Paris fashion week, it stays surprisingly affordable (and believe me, when the sale season starts, their Mitte store in Berlin – just like in another cities – becomes a treasure chest).

For autumn-winter 2017, as you might expect, the creative director decided to keep it classic. Anniversaries are no big deal! The clothes are the priority, so it’s quite guaranteed you will fall in love with every single piece. Fur jackets, maxi-dresses, even the thick socks. Oh, and denim! Really, wear it the you want. Over a coat, as a scarf, a lovely jumpsuit or simple jacket.

Simple, Simple. Jil Sander SS16

Slide1-kopia 2

Rodolfo Paglialunga and Jil Sander is still an unclear match for me. Jil Sander’s strict minimalism is missed since the debutant collection, while the designer’s signature is not entirely visible. Spring-summer 2016 was light and soft – the statement hats stole Instagram’s spotlight for few minutes after the show. But the collection was absolutely not amusing. It did not last in my mind for long. Beige coats, white pajama looks, black blazers and midi-skirts – really, no excitement at all.

Playful Simplicity. Celine Pre-Fall’15

Slide1-kopia 3

There is always a kind of strong anticipation while waiting for the release of Celine’s pre-collections. What Phoebe Philo is going to propose to us this season? Pre-fall at Celine usually means a selection of classical, sophisticated clothes kept in toned colours – this time, Phoebe went slightly more playful, pushing her austere comfort zones. After seeing the AW15 collection, I wasn’t surprised its pre-version will be kind of fun. Hand-embroidered folklore caftans, fringed ponchos and over-sized, burgundy culottes are just few to mention. There was also the slip-dress action – worn in a very Celine-ish way, it felt light and slightly infantile, but in a good way. In overall, a confusion between mature elegance and childish innocence was presemt  in these as usually great clothes. Can’t wait to see it strike the stores!

Easy Elegance. Rachel Comey SS15

Slide02

Rachel Comey is New York’s favourite label. Why? Well, because Rachel’s easy, but elegant pieces, are always, but always, a good idea. For SS15, Comey showed us romantic blouses, ripped denim, culottes, embroidered dresses and ethnic prints, which look perfect in the styling presented. “I was seeing the Amalfi Coast,” said one of the typically hip guests at Rachel Comey’s dinner cum show. Another ventured, “flamenco.” Comey herself seemed bemused by these suggestions. “It’s always interesting, what people get out of my collections,” she commented.

Zofia Chylak

Zofia Chylak is smart and romantic, but not at the edge of 19th century, where opulence gets boring. Her designs are modest and simple. And constantly kept in black & white colour palette. In her fashion, Zofia likes the tailorship, tradition and perfection in every piece. Chylak’s recent collection is pretty cold and solemn, but at the same stylish and wearable.
