Rick Owens “Pre-History”

rick_owens_9361_north_576xRick Owens’s new furniture collection made in his studio in Paris, is not only special because of the label- no, more because of the materials used in these sofas and armchairs. In reality, RO chose very rare and specific materials- The 500,000 year old fossilized wood throws up subtle nuances of smoked brown and the blackened plywood provides a counterpoint to the lighter tones; alabaster, a sublime material used by sculptors in Sumerian times whose transparent pallor echoes the color of the ivory of a cow’s bone. As you see, these minimalistic, brutallic forms have much more to say that most of other chairs! Their concept is very simple, showing the beauty of natural fabrics. Dealt with in juxtaposition, the values come together and compose a three-dimensional piece that is totally relevant to the designer’s own style. He cuts and shapes a transversal and global universe, from fashion to furniture.rick_owens_2644_north_576xrick_owens_4178_north_576xrick_owens_8411_north_576x

Tuscany: Carrara

20130819-105538 AM.jpg

Carrara is the city of marble in Tuscany, where biggest amounts of marble are found and used from the local mountains. It sounds kind of normally, but in reality and landscape around looks destroyed and devastated- the mountains are simply peeled off! For sure there is no ecology in that… But the city looks fantastic. It is very old, but you shall find modern marble sculptures everywhere, that looks cool. And there is also this church made all out of marble… It all makes me think of Balenciaga by Alexander Wang AW13 collection inspired with marble form!

Munich: Maison Martin Margiela

20130810-062833 PM.jpg
Munich is a great place for visiting, not only because of the great museums and monuments, but also for superb shopping! Today I will show you my three favourite places up here! And, if you want to see what is in stores, just see the labels on my Pages footside!

So, my first favourite place is Maison Martin Margiela boutique, hidden as always from tourists. All in white, with surrealistic furnitures and with mirrors around, you shall see the Moleskine cotton paper notebook and beautiful “things” like shoe candles and ink pens. But, the coolest are of course clothes! For women I found most shoes and bags exciting, and at mens the fur coat stole the spotlight. The service was very nice, and soon you will see what I bought! P.S. I still have white dots behind my eyes of that intense colour use in the store! 😄

Men’s: Rick Owens 👽 Adidas

20130629-030651 PM.jpg
When I heard of that fantastical collaboration I was like no way. But it is all true. Rick Owens for Adidas or other side back. And the effect is mind blowing! It’s like the Rick Owens classical sneakers with high top, but in a more “fat” edition. Kept in a typical Ricky colour palette, these masterpieces that were shown during the Paris Fashion Week for men for sure got a much, much higher price tag than normal Adidas sneakers… But they look so good! 20130629-031230 PM.jpg
