Fashion is Art, Art is Fashion

Fashion was and is and will be influenced by art and design. How? In geometry, form, fabric, color, flower detail, a paint spot. The Louis Vuitton SS13 was all influenced by Daniel Buren geometric installations. The most dirty punk collection of AW13- Saint Laurent- had the flower motives from Yves Saint Laurent private collection of furniture. Givenchy Pre Fall 13 collection add by the way print similarities to the CH07 by Hans Wegner armchair! In this crazy art world of trends, changes, cults, everything has it’s replacement. If we talk of Eames chairs I think of a Givenchy SS13 dress and Jil Sander AW12 coats that are so lite and delicate. Just like Ray and Charles Eames furniture! Oh, and my less known to most interest are of course furnitures and specifically- chairs!

Tilda Swinton in Cannes

130526095503_169478622While all the stars like Anne Hathaway or Laetisia Casta wear their Dior’s and Valentino’s Couture gowns, Tilda Swinton never go on the easier path. I mean, she looks easier (not so tired like Uma Thurman in this silver Versace dress), but much more stylish. Tilda breaks all stereotypes of a costume at a big Gala. We will not see her in Gucci nor Chanel, but in… Haider Ackerman! Just like this time! Swinton, that look a bit like David Bowie, reminds me of stylish rock and roll in this sequined golden jumsuit by Paris based designer. She is my definite number one this year at Cannes Festival!tilda_swinton_en_haider_ackermann_cannes_2013_only_lovers_left_8215_north_545xkanni12kanni13

PAD Paris Design Art

20130328-095015 AM.jpg
PAD, pioneering event for Art and Design aficionados and collectors, has been reinventing for the past 17 years the Cabinet d’Amateur and the notion of eclecticism, anticipating the esthetic aspirations of its time. Season after season, it offers an intimate cocoon to those who have made decorative arts and design the core of their collection, driven by passion and heritage.
Every edition evolves in aim to create an unprecedented dialogue between modern art, historical and contemporary design and jewelry. This year will give greater room to Primitive Art, and will highlight the vitality of raising such perspectives. The engaging aspect of PAD is its invitation to enter a personal collection, conceived by a selection of local and international art dealers – all of whom are leaders in their fields, eager to address each passionate collector in a unique manner. In this salon, mind is enlivened and imagination is exhilarated, as entering a place where the contemporary taste for 20th and 21st century decorative art is born.20130328-095324 AM.jpg20130328-095335 AM.jpg20130328-095353 AM.jpg20130328-095411 AM.jpg20130328-095425 AM.jpg20130328-095445 AM.jpg20130328-095503 AM.jpg20130328-095519 AM.jpg
PAD was my biggest highlight of Paris. In reality, I took more photos here, than in whole Paris! The chairs mostly cost more than 20’000€, deorations and sculptures 50’000€ and paintings by Warhol or Picasso? A cosmic price! While walking from one box to another, from giantic fish, to Mendini chairs, to leopard painting and “Feet” chair I was so amazed with everything! But my 100% favourite was the sofa made from mink fur, and had around and on sides real gold crocodiles and lizards! Maybe it wasn’t really comfortable, but it was art!

The exhibition/target is located in Tuilleries garden that is really big and beautiful. After Paris (PAD lasts for about 5 day!) moves to Los Angeles with all other labels. The labels and brands that are here come from France, Belgium, England, Switzerland, Philippines and many, many more! As I said I loved this place insanely, the same as all chairs, crystals and even the Restaurant Roberta that served delicious spaghetti!

Bambi Killer. Givenchy AW13

20130304-114353 AM.jpg
Just beautiful. And killing. This is how I describe recent Givenchy collection by Riccardo Tisci.. It all began with a black sweatshirt with a Bambi the Deer picture (this fellow comes from Disney) that is “killed” with a black&white photo of woman thats doing something (bad). Tisci, the designer, says that the collection is very personal and he used his old photos and mixed them up with things that influenced him from childhood. So Bambi is an answear then.

I saw lots of comparatives between Givenchy’s menswear collection and womenswear- there totally same jackets, most of prints and materials. Even the setting. And do you remember the violet flowers print? It’s also this season! However there was something sweet in this collection. For exemple the pink flowers on biker jackets that reminded me strongly of Celine. Riccardo Tisci, I should say always has something about flowers!

I also loved the flame print so red and yellow! It was everywhere on- jackets, skirts and dresses. I should say everything that Riccardo designed for this season, looked very wearable and comfortable. He ended the collection in a easy way. A maxi flowless dress with emebelished flowers at the bottom was covered with a thick wool sweater. It was beautiful. And what else- Natalia Vodianova ended the show in these awesome hairstyle! The hair of all was shoet but curly, and in pink colour! So sexy! Givenchy together with Celine and Kenzo is the best for Paris Fashion Week!
