Cherevichkiotvichki

The impossible to pronounce CHEREVICHKIOTVICHKI (in Russian: Черевички от Bички ) stands for “a shoe by Victoria” in the old Slavic language, but said in a playful childish manner. The beautiful story of Cherevichkiotvichki begins in Lithuania where Victoria grew up surrounded by the remains of Soviet culture and the uprising of Baltic heritage. Born in the family of factory workers she grew up to be fascinated by the extinct utilitarian lifestyle and nurtured memories of her childhood past transforming them into series of everyday objects – shoes. This stunning self-taught shoemaker performs copious amounts of research empathizing traditional craftsman-ship between her London studio and the atelier in Italy. I am truly in love with this brand- the shoes feel so full of attitude, like if they had their own life! And the way the accessories are presented also feels unique.

Ace & Jig

Ace_Jig_006_1366

What is Ace & Jig? When I first heard that simple, catchy name I knew from the beginning that it’s going to be cozy and cute. And I wasn’t mistaken. The designers, Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan, constantly bring new ideas to their New York-based label. They make winters be all about ponchos while summers feel the seaside notions and slightly hippie vibes. Material is Ace & Jig’s first love and to see them using traditional mills in India for making and dyeing their lovely textiles sounds great. For summer 2015, the duo gives as a flashback at pajamas craze of the 20’s, marine stripes and sailor pants with suspenders. The ease of those pieces, the mood the designers bring and the relaxing styling the look-book has makes me really want summer comeback. Those hand-embroidered caftans and signature checked shirts surely will deliver a warm ray of sun to your wardrobe. To end up this warm post, I truly recommend yout to follow their new account on Instagram! aceandjig.com

MMC STUDIO

IMG_8624.JPG

There is something truly unique about MMC Studio, Polish label found and designed by Ilona Majer and Rafal Michalak. They do fashion, or rather an idea of modernistic clothes, made using traditional techniques and materials. Fur and laser-cut lace are just few examples. For AW14 collection, the duo brought to the collection a portion of proportion-fusing silhouttes (thermic scarves vs. over-sized coats) and lovely boots in magnetising white and gold colours. Their attitude and creative approach feels really fresh on the Polish fashion scene, however they already have a strong vision and a fine client base. And just like Phoebe Philo of Celine, Ilona and Rafal are very open-minded influencers of fashion (but so far, only in Poland). Why? Well. Just look at these shearling jackets and fluid-like fluocentic skirts- they are seriously cool, aren’t they? And very wearable and pretty much affordable. Oh, and soon something special is coming up with MMC’s key piece!
