Matrix. Balenciaga SS15

_MON0037

New 8 p.m. time slot, new Palais de Tokyo location, and a state-of-the-art glass and grid-work runway under which dry ice machines pumped smoke. And the new mood appears: matrix and sci-fi. Narrow glasses, long, dark power coats, mesh and cosmic embroideries. At a glance, it was tempting to see signs of Wang’s early work in New York—the way he blended sport and the street. But that’s only part of the story. Wang was in Paris this summer during the Tour de France, and it was the world of cycling—the competitors’ second-skin kits, the shoes that clamp into pedals—that influenced the built-for-speed feeling of this collection. Silhouettes were lean and athletic: the pants leggings-tight, shirts clingy, and dresses cut like a glove. As you might know, from the beginning of Wang’s career at Balenciaga, I didn’t really feel “him” here. But this is the first collection (since AW13) which I pretty much enjoyed. And those lilac elements are simply too good to be true.

Sheer Beauty. Rochas SS15

Slide06

Being Rochas woman nowadays might be hard- work, children, time for a nap. And the brand is known for it’s non-chalance and avantgarde. But this summer, Alessandro Dell Acqua made a little bit easier. Although we’ve got the super couture embroideries and lots of sheer beauty, there is a new way of being Rochas- wear socks with one of their confetti sling-back pumps! They are gorgeous. Just like the logo-matic on the blouses and dresses. But for those who feel like dressing up in mostly couture level, there are those breath-taking gowns with tulle, embellished flowers and ribbons… or skirts with crotchet knits… or one of those floral coats… In other words, Dell Acqua brought us lots of different options. And the sheer elements are like magic. As for his second collection for Rochas, mister Alessandro really feels the Rochas spirit.

Parasols de Marseille. Jacquemus SS15

Slide2

Cheer up! It’s the super cute Jacquemus collection! Stripes, dots, smiles… it’s all about the happy beach summer in Marseille, with colourful umbrellas and comfortable white shirts… and more. For his fourth, runway collection, Simon Jacquemus showed a very strong and good thing- he keeps true to his naive, cute style. White shirt, white socks, white Adidas. And a bit of boldness in posture of stripes and other fun shapes. This time, Jacquemus showed some body in his looks- a bit of leg, a bit of shoulder. And the wet hair simply reflected the summer mood! In other words- these pieces just make us want summer to come as fast as possible! L’Ete pour toujours! (pardon my french)

New Boho. Missoni SS15

Slide2

Angela Missoni, the new woman behind the iconic brand, Missoni, showed the new boho chic in her SS15 collection. Covered with the ethnic Missoni ZIGZAG print, we saw a rhapsody of over-size tredn: trousers in aqua marine colour; skirts in blush pink; Diana Vreeland like turbans on the model’s heads; gorgeous pyjama shirts… in other words, I wanted to jump into the perfect David Hockney pool, when I saw the collection for the first time. There were sensational flaring coats in lace knit double-faced with nylon tulle—a knitwear breakthrough for Missoni, because it created a perfect paradox: substance with a gossamer lightness. The embroidered flowers only made the coats better. The simplest shapes—a smock, a shift—were elongated and energized by finely graded colors. Missoni ruled yesterday with it’s boho triumph. Art by David Hockney.

Italian Summer. Stella Jean SS15

Slide02

Aah, those Italian summers, where you simply swim the pool, sunbathe with a favourite book and visit those small, cozy villages… Stella Jean, the designer coming from Hawaii, which is based in Milan, really brought the Mediterrean sun to all of us in her latest collection for summer. The emerging star of MFW brings up odd silhouttes of her signature, strongly printed skirts and over-sized t-shirts, giving us the heat of Sardinia in one of the capes and beauty of Corsica in another dress. With the prints painted on the clothes, the collection feels very Stella Jean and very, very appropriate for hot summer! Instantly in love!
