He paused a beat. “There’s no black!” That’s right, New York’s prince of downtown darkness is turning toward the light. “I was looking for something optimistic,” he said, “something pure.” And also that Agyness Deyn moment. And the bleached hair. And that awesome attitude.
I would say that Simone Porte Jacquemus is not a typical fashion designers. His is creating fashion, that is much more conceptual, but at the same time a lot more wearable than you would think. Yes, maybe neoprene dress sounds cosmic, but at Jacquemus, in pigeon blue, it looks not pretty, but… childish? A bit femme enfant (that was the name of his AW14 collection)? Jacquemus is a brand that reminds me somehow of Rei Kawabuko’s Comme des Garcons. It’s individual, different. It won’t be copied by Zara. With the models characteristically wearing white Adidas sneakers and white socks, Simon is true to his own style- well, he also dresses like that. Always white Adidas sneaks with white socks and a Comme des Garcons white shirt.
The AW14 collection was all about childish way of thinking. Round, coloured dots appeared on the transparent skirts and tops, while a lot of neoprene literally hung from white strings of cotton. Everything was all about sophistication is simple, usual things. Meaning, the imagination of a child. And, as Simon says, he feels like on! Je m’appelle Simons, j’aime le bleu et le blanc, les rayures, le soleil, Marseille et les annees 80 is the typical way he starts a conversation. So what to expect? This is a new movement in fashion (or maybe a strike- greve) against being serious!
Rag & Bone’s new collection for Fall is a selection of basic black & white clothes for every city-jungle girl. Everything looks very comfortable and easy to wear- just like everything what’s Rag & Bone. Mixed with every-day life accessories like I ❤️ NY bag or Coca-Cola can, the collection seems to be great for every occasion- for work, jog in the park or a evening party at your friends! The SS14 by Victoria Beckham has it’s own, minimalistic mood, that I truly love. And by saying minimalism, I don’t mean the one that is presented at Celine or Jil Sander- Victoria, throughout the seasons sculpted her own style vision, that she’s devoted to in every collection and her everyday style. Kept in mostly black & white colours, the fuxia bright truss patterns on the shirts and skirts simply took all the brave away in the middle of the show. The jackets, bags and shoes looked all pretty comfortable, while the whole collection had it’s architectural, sharp cut in it. Victoria Beckham’s SS14 is a collection by strong women, who mixes work and family in a great style. By the way- the opening of the show was amazing- thanks to Edie Campbell, and the beautiful white-jacket-black-trousers outfit she wore!
That was such surprise this morning to see the Celine Resort 2014 on their site! As Phoebe Philo didn’t let the collection to go out within others like Dior and Chanel because of Zara’s copying, Celine Resort 2014 was uploaded silently today at night. As nobody knows anything about it, by accident I saw the colledtion… and wow! The pre-collection is nothing like SS14- it’s kept in beiges, linen fabrics, fur and python. Yeah, fur. The furs were bigger than the ones in the AW13 collection! And everything out of mink… for Spring. The python leather vest looked pretty cool; the nurse dresses in pastel colours were cute; sweaters, sweatpants and coats were classical and simple. Very Celine and chic. Definitely this impressive collection is one of the best for Spring 2014… and the birkenstocks are again back in fashion!
