Bavaria / Tyrol

On our road trip to Italy (and back home), we’ve stayed for a few days in the mountains. First, we stopped in a small Austrian town (stone throw from Innsbruck) to get that fresh, Tyrol air. And ride the funicular! We did the same in Bavaria, the Alpine region of Germany. Bayrischzell is a perfect place for long forest walks, goat milk (get in at Leitzachtaler Ziegenhof farm) and, in general, every other typically Bavarian activity like drinking beer (not for me, though!) and hiking. Oh, and taking a bath in front of a waterfall is nothing unusual here. If you’re here, hit the Wandelstein mountain that’s near – up there you might have a chance listen to local orchestra, eat the all-time classic wurst and fall in love with every single view. Well, maybe not ‘every’ – unless you’re into the current ‘fashion trekker’ look done by the locals and tourists.

For those planning to reach the top of any other mountain in Tyrol or Bavara this summer – in style – you might want to get hold of these Marni Olive neoprene sneakers and that Y/Project hoodie.

Borchardt

Berlin can amaze you with the best Vietnamese cuisine – but it can also make you fall in love with German’s national pride. Wiener Schitzel, hello! I’ve never been a fan of this specialty, however the one I ate at Borchardt changed my view on this usually unattractive way of meat serving. The Borchardt looks back on a 150 year long history, being one of the oldest restaurants of the German capital. In the past, it supplied the Kaiser in the Wilhelmine era, went on to survive the Second World War and the city’s division by the Berlin Wall – so there is no possible way that this place could have dissapointed. Although you might think that Bochardt smells with antique, it surprisingly looks quite modern thanks to perfect restoration, while the marble pillars and an original Byzantine-style enthrone give this one-of-a-kind spot a spirit which you won’t find anywhere else in Berlin.

Berlin: Andreas Murkudis

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset

It’s definitely not the first time I am writing about Andreas Murkudis, but… this place in Berlin is a must-visit EVERYTIME. I just feel so refreshed after coming here. And, the sale just started here, so it’s a great occasion to catch up something from Dries Van Noten, Celine or Aspesi. Potsdammer Strasse 81E, Kreuzberg.

Faustine Steinmetz

The world of denim, you’ve got a problem. I introduce you to Faustine Steinmetz. In her label, each fabric is solely handwoven by one person using one of our traditional handlooms.
And, each piece is meticulously made by hand, with some pieces taking over a week to weave. “In our East London studio we spin, dye and weave all our own fabrics. We reproduce iconic pieces, the kind everyone has or has had in their wardrobe at one stage, except we make them all by hand.” Faustine Steinmetz creates and designs denim which isn’t really denim- it’s a new apparel vision, but on upper level. For AW14, we’ve got trousers which visually look like jeans, tartan dresses and lovely tops. Thoughts?
