#DACBE in The Waiting Room

IMG_8090

It’s so strange, when you are the person, who writes for magazines, and then… you see yourself in one.

You can’t believe, how happy I am. It’s the first time, when Design & Culture by Ed, my five-year old blog, and my collages (which accompany every fashion show coverage) were featured in a printed magazine! The Waiting Room is a publication that touches on all creative territories, delivering articles on contemporary culture in art and design. The magazine, founded by Mosope Alli, looks forward to still widely unknown artists, fashion’s creative sensations and in-depth, profound interviews. It focuses on art, but in comparison to other big players, Alli tries to leave pretentiousness behind and make a statement – art is all about self-perception. In the first issue of The Waiting Room, I’ve shared my favourite collages from the past few seasons, like military Casely Hayford AW16 for men or Gucci’s Frida Kahlo-inspired collection for women. Also, there’s an interview where I’m discussing my love to collage-making, most inspiring people in the industry I admire and my plans for the future!

For now, The Waiting Room is a university project – but Mosope is having big plans for his “baby”. Hope to hear her soon in magazine industry!

System is the Smartest

System_Raf_Simons_cover-500x646

Lately, nearly every fashion magazine which can be considered as less ambitious or as a very niche one, pretends to make art out of celebrities. But what about the real stars of fashion? And I am not talking about the models this time. I mean the designers and creatives, who make this industry propel. When I opened the very first page of the newest System Magazine, I felt a relief that Justin Bieber won’t be the unexpected “fashion icon”. Reading the absolutely honest and down-to-earth Raf Simons interview by Cathy Horyn was a pleasure, and simultaneously proved that the people behind System value the quality of texts.

I am still absorbing the 6th issue, but I can distinctly remember that the Giorgio Armani issue was a lovely, one-week reading, filled with fashion insider’s point of views and thoughts.  Even though the reading part is the biggest asset of System, I also enjoy their sharp and individualistic creative direction. The editorials photographed by Juergen Teller (just like the 100 page one for the last haute couture collection by Raf Simons for Dior) and portfolios of legendary artists match the unconventional nature of the magazine. System, edited by Alexia Niedzielski, Elizabeth von Guttman, Jonathan Wingfield, Thomas Lenthal and many other contributing writers and creatives takes it to the next level – it’s not just an expensive booklet of advertisements, but valuable literature for those who are truly into fashion. In other words, System is both relevant and smart. And I will keep it for a longer moment on my coffee-table – and eventually leave a graceful space for it in my book-shelf.

Here is a throwback of the previous issues’ essential editorials.

Atlas, The Lion

6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fb1c970bPhotography: Tim Walker. Stylist: Katie Grand. Models: Karen Elson, Edie Campbell. So, what can be even better than these four all in magazine called LOVE? The Lion called Atlas! Wow, I was waiting for this 10nth issue of LOVE so much time!!! I expected best and here it is! The first editorial is all about Tim Walker’s magical fantasy. A old house somewhere in England, a huge, real lion called Atlas and two beautiful models wearing Haute Couture gowns… Edie looks a bit spooky with this make-up, but it’s still beautiful! LOVE IT!6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1c01970c6a00e54ecca8b988330192ac4368cb970d6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fc0b970b6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fc36970b6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1cb4970c6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fc81970b6a00e54ecca8b988330192ac436992970d6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1c63970c6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fcda970b6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fd87970b6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fd3b970b6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fd1c970b6a00e54ecca8b988330192ac436a4e970d6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1d25970c6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fd91970b6a00e54ecca8b9883301901e83fd9f970b6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1ddb970c6a00e54ecca8b988330191047a1d8e970c

They were the last, standing in the KaDeWe Miu Miu section. These runway shoes are just mind blowing. And really beautiful. Perfect for all occasions- from a elegant gala to the beach party. WIth the polished leather in the front, they are very eye catchy and match everything in white, black and grey. These Miu Miu AW13 heels are out of this world!
