FEMININITY NOW 🎺 #DACBE: To some designers, the slowed down pace forced by the pandemic does wonders. #RiccardoTisci‘s latest collection for #Burberry is his best yet for the British brand. The #AW21 line-up reminds of Tisci’s early work at Givenchy: dark, well-edited, elegant, and perfectly balancing the feminine and the powerful. TIMELESSNESS ✨ #DACBE: I might not be a number one #MichaelKors fan, but his latest collection (celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary) is so great. It’s the old, good Kors of the late 1980s and early 90s, adapted to contemporary times (well, maybe specifically the re-emergence times that will come sooner or later). How do you sum up a four-decade career in 63 looks during a pandemic? In an audienceless show, where you’ve got #NaomiCampbell, Helena Christensen, Carolyn Murphy, and Shalom Harlow vamping down #NewYork’s 45th Street in evening sequins and double-face cashmere. ARIA 🫀 #DACBE: #Gucci turns 100 this year, and #AlessandroMichele celebrates that milestone in a very bold and sexy way. In his latest collection, Michele picked up on Gucci’s equestrian codes, giving them a fetishistic spin; he reprised one of #TomFord’s greatest hits, the red velvet tuxedo from autumn-winter 1996; and he “hacked” #DemnaGavasalia’s #Balenciaga. And that’s certainly not it. More on the JOURNAL 👅 #Milan #GucciAria #GucciGang #AllTheFeels #DACBECOLLECTIONS 🫁 “live” #collage by me, music: “Forbidden Love” by Madonna.
SOCIALI/S/TE 🦢 #DACBE: Finally, a delightful dash of refinement appears on the Polish fashion scene. Meet #JanFChodorowicz, the womenswear designer and recent graduate of #CentralSaintMartins MA course, and his brilliant SOCIALI/S/TE collection. Chodorowicz’s debut line-up introduces the audience to his two favourite meeting-points: the codes of haute couture and workwear. For the collection, Jan was simultaneously inspired by the glamorous Truman-Capote-kind-of-women, and photographs of working women in socialist Poland – visions of strikingly contrasting femininity that collided at one point in history, when #JackieKennedy and #LeeRadziwill came to #Warsaw in 1970. SILHOUETTES 🌹 #DACBE: #RafSimons‘ latest collections are more straightforward and easier in approach – yet they have that elusive spark that makes the designer’s work so attractive. For #AW21, Simons stated his simple mission: “The collection is about things I love – things I have always loved, that are always there in every collection, in the processes behind it, and the clothes.” More on the JOURNAL 🪶 #Paris #Antwerp #Silhouette #Menswear #Oversized #DACBECOLLECTIONS 🍄 “live” #collage by me, music: “Kill V.
